Budget 2016 – Academy Conversions

In the budget it was announced by Chancellor George Osborne that all schools in England must become academies by 2020 or have to have plans to do so by 2022. Previously academy conversions were either voluntary or required for failing schools.
This means that all schools in England which are still local authority maintained should now seek advice on converting to an academy. At PCB Solicitors we can offer you ‘value for money’ with your academy conversion.
If you are thinking of setting up a single academy, multi academy trust (‘MAT’) or joining an existing MAT then we can advise on the transfer or lease of land and employment matters (the TUPE regulations). We can deal with all types of schools including church, foundation or voluntary schools.
We can also offer post-conversion advice on employment matters, contracts, contract disputes and property matters.
If you are a headteacher or chair of governors considering an academy conversion, then please call our Shrewsbury office on 01743 248148 for an initial discussion with one of our solicitors Hannah Livsey or Ryan Bickham.
