We have an exciting opportunity for a full time Accounts Assistant to join our Accounts department, to be based at our Shrewsbury office. Some of the duties you will be expected to carry out are to run and maintain the purchase ledger for business invoices, post client bills to ledgers, process and print cheque payment requests, post and reconcile petty cash transactions for all offices and other ad-hoc accounts duties as required. 

We are looking for a dynamic, self-motivated individual who enjoys engaging in business development and will support the growth of the department and firm. The successful candidate will work as part of a friendly, supportive, and approachable team.

Job Responsibilities:

· Identify and allocate receipts from the bank and post to ledgers,

· Deal with bank reconciliations from the previous day,

· Take payments on the card machine in person and on the telephone, and post to ledgers,

· Run and maintain the purchase ledger for business invoices,

· Disbursement postings for Land Registry fees, Search fees and Court fees,

· Set up bank payments for BACS/CHAPS/TT,

· Post client bills to ledgers,

· Client-to-Office transfers for payment of bills,

· Assisting with credit control, nominal analysis, account queries and residual balances,

· Assist the Management Accountant with any additional ad-hoc duties.

Essential Skills:

· Minimum of 2 years Accounts experience required,

· Highly organised with precise attention to detail,

· Be of a reliable and trustworthy nature and retain high levels of confidentiality at all times,

· Proven internal and external communication skills,

· Maintain your continuing professional development requirements,

· Able to work independently as well as collaboratively with the Accounts team and wider firm,

· Ability to work on own initiative and achieve accurate timescales,

· Have a positive approach and strong work ethic.

Job Types:

· Full-time, Permanent.


· Monday to Friday (35 hours per week).

Place of work:

· Shrewsbury: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required).


· Experience working in an Accounts department is essential,

· Experience working in a Solicitor Accounts is preferred.


· £22,000.00 to £28,000.00, depending on qualifications and experience.
